muscleWhen it comes to strength training less is more. The biggest mistake weight lifters make is over training. This is especially true for hardgainers who feel to make up for their poor genetics, need to be training everyday to get any significant gains. False!

So how to build muscle fast? An important fact that many people seem to miss is you don’t have muscle growth while you are at the gym lifting weights. You stimulate muscle growth at the gym. It’s during your recovery time that your body is given the opportunity to repair and rebuild muscle cells and you experience muscle growth. This occurs particularly while you are sleeping in fact! It’s because of this that it’s incredibly important that you do not train more then three times a week like so many trainers will tell you to do, and each session doesn’t need to be longer then 45 minutes. You can achieve a lot in this amount of time.

Over training is actually going to stunt your improvement. This is why so many people work out so hard at the gym without making any real gains! You have to give your muscles time to grow and get stronger. Each time you are the gym you should be lifting more and more.

That being said a diet which is high in protein is important for building muscle. Whether you get your protein from eating chicken, fish, eggs or from a protein shake. Considering that you need to be on a high calorie diet to build muscle, if you were to consume to bulk of your calories only from carbs or fat you would put on the wrong type of weight. A high protein intake will ensure that you minimize storing fat.

All in all, by spending less time in the gym but making each rep count, along with proper nutrition you will see improvements in muscle mass in no time!
