You must have been groaning with desperation when massive recall of products containing peanuts was being implanted due to salmonella contamination. Or, you must have been choking in horror due to the possibility that your recent purchase of peanut butter might be one of those contaminated products. If you’re a peanut butter lover or a lover of anything containing peanuts, then a halt in getting a daily dose of your favourite peanut butter brand must be causing you great misery. Giving up on peanuts entirely is not only unacceptable on a personal level but also on your well-being because peanuts contain a lot of health benefits.
An ounce of peanut five times a week reduces the risk of heart disease and dieters get a lot from peanuts in the form of fibre and protein. Aside from heart-healthy fats, it is also loaded with nutrients that are beneficial to health. But salmonella scare may not be going anywhere for a while so instead of whining and pining for favourite peanut butter or peanut products, finding for alternatives maybe your only option. Find alternatives that give you the same satisfaction as your favourite peanut butter brands.
Making your own peanut butter spread safely puts you away from possible salmonella contamination. Make sure that your surfaces and utensils used in preparation do not house bacteria that can possibly be salmonella. Clean them thoroughly so your cravings for peanuts will not put you in danger. You can buy fresh whole peanuts at grocery stores. A whip in the food processor and some butter and you’ve just made yourself fresh homemade peanut butter.
For your favourite peanut-containing snacks, you can get creative by dipping crackers or fruits to your homemade peanut butter. You can also experiment with peanut-containing recipes. Health is generally defined as the condition of ones physical and mental well being. Being physically healthy is not enough since it also includes ones mental stability. It doesn’t necessarily mean that if an individual is thin, he/ she is already healthy and so does being fat. Being healthy cannot just be seen on one’s physical attribute. Yes, you are thin but you are anorexic. Yes you are fat, you “look” healthy but you have hypertension and diabetes. It is of importance to keep our health stable since we cannot do more in life if we are always sick. Being healthy is a sure way for our longevity.
It is not simple to keep track of one’s health if you don’t give a cow’s breath on what you eat and whether you exercise or not. In this time and age, securing ones health is quite easy with the advances in technology and new discoveries in science. But coupled with this advances is the discovery of more complex and serious diseases. To keep things on track, we should always mind on what we eat, that is the sure fire to maintain healthy. Yes it is hard to resist all those mouth watering foods but we should not wait for the time when we could no longer eat those foods since we already have complications.
What we should always bear in mind is that being healthy has no repercussions, it has mounds of benefits but you have to make sacrifices to gain all those and to ensure a healthy long life.

Sleeping is a very important activity and every adult should get about 8 to 10 hours each night. The Better Sleep Council addressed the problems that most people don’t talk about, but many people do not get adequate rest due to stress related problems, many are not even getting enough rest once during a course of a week, and others have insomnia problems for many different reasons.
There are many people that endure restless nights and later this problem can result in weight gain, tiredness and other major medical problems can be evident as a result of lack of sleep. Here comes the cavalry ;there is a way out of this horrid nightmare because there are not just sleep aids to protect you, but there are also natural herbal formulas to induce a good night sleep.
Here are a few I’ve found to be great, and they really work, Lavender Tea is really one of the best ways to feel relaxed and you can also use Lavender as an aromatherapy because using this herb will have a calming effect on your Central Nervous System and after taking this herb you will began to feel like you could wind down and sleep. Lemon Balm, Saint John’s Wort and Kava Kava are other herbal remedies to take for relaxation at bedtime.
Chamomile tea is the number 1 choice remedy to reduce stress, and using herbs along with prayer or meditation and exercising can be very helpful and many people choose yoga as well because it will promote activating your body to rest. If you are having problems with sleeping you may also check out your diet, like sodas with caffeine, or coffee, and or alcohol can really keep you awake at night, especially if you drink or eat foods that have loads of caffeine right before bed time, therefore; changing the way you eat can also help you get a great full nights rest from now on.
Getting the proper rest does a lot to improve many things in your life, like have you ever discovered when you or a loved one or spouse, doesn’t get a good night sleep, they feel a bit edgy the next day. Which could lead to arguments or a bad day at work, and good study habits can even decrease and in some cases be nonexistent without a good night of rest. Resting well will not only give you a better relationship with your family and friends, but it can also help you to have a better attitude about yourself, the world as a whole and how you socialize with others at work.
I think if the majority of people begin getting sleep like they are suppose to, there would be fewer accidents on the road, less mistakes made in general and helps to make the world a better place, because people would feel refreshed. Power naps are also great even if you just get in 20 minutes during your lunch break, you will return back to work refreshed and ready to go. Sleeping is one great way of taking charge and taking care of your body and it’s never too late to start, take care of your body because you only get 1 body in this life-time.

Medical check-ups for people who are at risk of high cholesterol should begin at the age of 20. With all the different products sold in the market, it’s important to know that anyone can collect a build-up of bad cholesterol in the body.
Today, even children are at risk of developing heart diseases from eating too much high-cholesterol foods. Here are some of the lists of food you should keep away from:
- Chicken and pork liver. Dishes that contain chicken and pork livers are mostly found in Chinese and French cuisines. American dishes seldom use livers in their recipes. Avoid eating too much of these to lower the risk of developing heart diseases.
- Fast food takeouts. Although American cuisine is not into liver-based meals, they’re seriously into fast food meals. French fries, burgers, and deep-fried chicken are considered as part of the staple diets of many Americans. If you love these kinds of food, try making them at home. Bake them instead of frying them to avoid too much saturated fats that could clog your heart’s arteries.
- Hotdogs. Processed food like sausages and hams are high in sodium, which increases our cholesterol levels. The preservatives on these meats are also not good for our overall health.
- Dairy products. Milk products that are high in fat could increase cholesterol in our body. Choose low-fat milk and lessen dairy product intake to maintain a low cholesterol level.
Food that has saturated fats and trans fats. Always check the nutrition facts of your favorite food packages. Refrain from buying packaged goods with high saturated fats and avoid foods that contain trans fats. Examples foods that are loaded with trans fats are cookies, margarines, and biscuits.

Some smokers find it difficult to quit smoking. Due to addiction to nicotine, a chemical component in cigarettes, people find themselves smoking all over again even if they’ve already decided to quit. Others would continue to smoke simply because they’re stressed or they gain pleasure in smoking.
Whatever the reasons behind the difficulty, anti-smoking advocates keep on helping smokers to quit by developing methods and devices that will slowly reduce the smokers’ nicotine addiction. Some tools are made just like cigarettes and are sold in the markets. Other products that help smokers stop are chewing gums or candies that are believed to hasten the craving for nicotine.
Some products claiming to help your addiction to smoking includes:
Herbal supplements. These products claim to have all-natural ingredients that’ll cure your smoking wants. People who have used herbal supplements reportedly saw other benefits aside from healing the smoking obsession. According to some, the supplements can relieve stress, dry cough, and tension.
Nicotine patches. These patches assert to manage the smoking habit through reducing the body’s nicotine addiction. It also claims to detoxify the body. People who used it claimed to have itchy skin and dizziness.
Quit smoking gums. Nicotine gums have different dosages depending on the intensity of smoking. Heavy smokers are recommended to chew gums with higher dosages. What these gums do is that they actually give off nicotine instead of withdrawing them from the body. A certain procedure is given to those who would prefer to use it. As you keep on using chewing gums for a certain period of time, the dosage of nicotine is reduced, thereby decreasing your nicotine craving. Considering this one requires the help of a doctor.
Artificial cigarettes. Shaped like the real ones, these artificial cigarettes enable smokers to puff without the hazardous nicotine. It’s also smokeless and odorless. All you have to do is to inhale it and wait for your addiction to stop permanently.
